We can begin to trace back human knowledge of the importance of the integrity of our blood to very early periods. Around 1400 BC in fact, we read from the Old Testament “For the life of the flesh is in the blood”(Lev 17:11) or “The life of all flesh is the blood”(Lev 17:14) and from Proverbs “It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones”(Prov 3:8) Whether you take the bible to be fact, fiction or simply a historical document, it is clear that in that day their was an understanding of the importance of blood in relation to the health and vitality of the body. These prophets of their day had some notion that when the blood was healthy the rest of the body would continue to be so.
Now although what food we take into our bodies ultimately affects our blood and therefore our life and longevity, it is not the only significant factor in our optimal overall health and alkalinity.
Not only are we what we eat and drink, but we are what we think. Thoughts can keep us stuck in the past or future, distracting us from living in the present, in the “NOW”. In order to get into balance our thoughts must add to our sense of well being.

** 'An alkaline diet can be beneficial for inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, and for those who are overweight or have chronic fatigue or mood problems,' says Dr Mark Atkinson, author of The Mind Body Bible.
Ionized Alkaline Water is An Antioxidant
- All flesh foods are highly acidic – beef, pork, chicken, and fish (including salmon)
- All dairy foods are highly acidic, with cheese being the most acidic)
- Refined sugar is highly acidic
- Beer has a pH of 3.9 – 4.2 pH) and coffee a pH of 4.7 (both extremely acidic)
- Chocolate has a pH of 3.7, one of the most acidic things one can consume next to:
- Soft drinks have a pH ranging from 2.3 to 3.5, so acidic it eats away tooth enamel.
- Almost all drugs are acidic
- Most grains are acidic – especially wheat and wheat flour product

The Seventh Day, God Rests
If we want to be healthy we must do three things, hydrate, alkalize and detoxify our body, which creates an environment of health within the body. Ionized alkaline water is an antioxidant produced by electrolysis that hydrates, alkalizes and detoxifies the body when consumed. Alkaline ionized water is the healthiest substance we can put in the body because there is nothing better for us than water and there is no better water than ionized water.
The most common cause of disease is that people don’t drink enough water, which leads to chronic cellular dehydration where the body’s cells are unable to function to their capacity and serve the body as they are meant to.
Honoring the Temple of God, A Christian Health Perspective – Hydrate, Alkalize and Detoxify the body with Ionized Water, Spirulina, Chlorella, Raw Foods by Bob McCauley
The Bible teaches that health and wellness is found with God. If your body is full of disease, it is because of the choices you have made or of a spiritual demonic nature. Jesus speaks of the body as being the living temple of God and refers to his own body as a temple. His words are misunderstood, as was much of his message to those who lived in those times.
Most disease, however, comes from our diet. Our genes have nothing to do with whether we get sick or not. Disease does not run in our families due to genetics, but rather through dietary habits that tend to lead to many of the same diseases. We must do what it takes in the natural to keep God’s temple healthy.
Your body was designed by God – “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him: male and female created he them” (Genesis 1:27)
And your body is wonderfully made – “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” (Psalm 139:14)
Keep Your Bloods pH in the Alkaline Zone
Few people realize that if the pH (the acid/alkaline balance) of the blood drops below 7.0 and (into the acid range), the body becomes first catatonic, then comatose, and then the person dies. Interestingly, if the body’s pH rises above 7.45 it can lead to excessive alkalosis and even death if not quickly corrected. Maintaining proper blood pH is essential for keeping us alive and well on planet earth.
Some body fluids must be acid for proper digestion i.e. stomach acids (we will learn more about the importance of maintaining stomach acidity next week, along with the dangers of antacids). Thus it is important that all body fluids maintain proper pH. This isn’t difficult if we eat what God intended us to eat. (We will look at God’s intentions further along in this article.)
What We Eat and Drink Determines Body pH
Everything we place into our mouth in the form of food or drink or drug, has either an acidifying or alkalizing effect upon the body’s pH (acid/alkaline balance).
Acidifying Foods & Drugs
Alkalizing Foods
Almost all plant sourced foods leave an alkaline ash and has an ALKALIZING effect on the body. Barley Grass is one of the most alkalizing foods. Other alkalizing foods would include avocados, beets, carrots, all greens, almonds, and sunflower seeds, and even flax oil. A few plant foods leave an acid ash – blueberries, cranberries, plums, prunes, some nuts, seeds, and legumes.
To prevent the blood from becoming even slightly acidic, which would cause death, the body will use the following means to get rid of or neutralize the excess acid:
:
- The body will store excess acid in the muscles, one of the primary causes of fibromyalgia.
- Acid helps facilitate the creation of plaque and cholesterol on arterial walls.
- Creates adipose fat cells causing weight gain.
- Cause blood to clot.
- Store extra water to help neutralize the acid (edema).
- Induce hot flashes, sweating, and rashes in an effort to expel the acid.
- Cause colds, and other immune responses to get rid of the excess acid.
- Draw alkaline minerals like calcium from tissues, bones and teeth in an effort to neutralize the acidity (causing osteoporosis).
When the body is unable to get rid of sufficient acid, decay begins to literally decompose the body as it begins the process of returning the body back to the dust from which it came:
By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground,
Yeast overgrowth, bacteria and parasites are not something a person catches, but something a person creates and invites into their body when they fail to maintain proper pH within the colon.
The pH of the colon is 5.5 to 7.0 and is host to the vast majority of our bacteria, both friendly and unfriendly. Friendly bacteria must predominate, but antibiotics and chlorinated water destroy friendly bacteria, allowing unfriendly bacteria to thrive and damage the colon wall. The damaged colon wall allows bacteria and parasites to seep into the blood. An insufficient amount of friendly bacterium in the colon leads to yeast overgrowth (Candida).
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
7 then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. 8 And the LordGod planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9 And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.
29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.
Who would know better what would provide proper nourishment for the human physical body then the creator of that body? God provided TRUE nourishment for the physical body by providing the foods coming from the plants found in the garden, almost all of which had an alkaline pH to be sure.
Biblical history reveals that as long as man remained on that 100% plant based, predominantly alkaline diet, man remained free of sickness.
PH/MHz Balance
• If you are sick or tired - that means you are
acidic and toxic. You have to restore alkaline balance in your body. That's why
you have to eat as much alkaline food as possible.
• Recommended ratio is 1 part of slightly
acidic food (beans, nuts, buckwheat) to every 3 parts of alkaline food - raw
vegetables. It takes 3 times more alkaline material to neutralize acid.
• Best
alkaline food
• Sprouts
- alfalfa, lentils, mung beans
• Raw
organic vegetables - cucumber, spinach, broccoli, lettuce, cabbage,
beets, carrot, pepper, cauliflower
• Alkaline
fruits - only lemon, lime, tomato, avocado, grapefruit
• Grains
- buckwheat, quinoa
• Beans
- lentils, white beans, red beans
• Organic
tofu
• Seeds
(soaked in water overnight) - sunflower, pumpkin
• Nuts
(soaked in water overnight) - almonds, hazelnuts
***Among others, The Makers Diet will accomplish a PH/MHz balance diet.
It consists of:
Stage 1– No grains, no fruit (except for some citrus and berries), no beans, no starches (potatoes, corn), no processed foods, few nuts, no sugars, no cow’s dairy (goat’s dairy is ok).
Stage 2– Add back in fruits and beans and more nuts and organic cow’s dairy.
Stage 3– Add back in starches, appropriate sugars (honey, molasses, etc.) and properly prepared grains

But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king's food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself. And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs, and the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who assigned your food and your drink; for why should he see that you were in worse condition than the youths who are of your own age? So you would endanger my head with the king.”
We sometimes refer to the DANIEL DIET when adopting his practices for a clean diet.
Living moderately means leading a balanced lifestyle. The principles of balance and moderation are evident throughout creation. There is the positive and negative polarity in electricity. There is male and female. There is acid and alkaline.
Diet is one of the means by which God teaches us moderation and balance. You need some acid; you need more alkaline—if you eat too much of one or the other long enough, you won’t be healthy.
Now, getting back to the 16 elements of which Herbert W. Armstrong said the human body is basically composed: All of them come from food that grows out of the Earth’s soil, which is comprised of more than 100 elements.
How did you grow from a tiny ovum to a full-size adult? Through food from the ground. How are those elements maintained and replenished in our bodies as adults? Again, through food.
Mr. Armstrong wrote in the Plain Truth, December 1967: “So it is literally true that you are what you eat—and ‘dust thou art.’ Since you are merely food converted into a human body and mind, is it not plain that whatever food you put into your mouth has a very great deal to do with what you are—and with your health, or lack of it?”
We are what we eat—literally.
All the health laws are important, but since 85 to 95 percent of sickness and disease is due to faulty diet (as Mr. Armstrong learned in the ’30s), then it goes without saying that learning about these 16 elements, and how to keep a proper supply of them in our bodies, is of supreme importance when it comes to good health. This is some of the most critical and necessary knowledge God restored to His Church to lead us to good health.
Mr. Armstrong went on in his article to explain that of the 16 elements discussed, 12 are alkaline-reacting elements. These include iron, calcium, magnesium and potassium. “These supply the nourishment,” he wrote, “replace deteriorating cells, build bone, flesh, tissue, skin, hair.”
Four of the 16 elements produce carbohydrates, lipids and proteins—the acid-reacting elements that supply energy. These are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen.
So the 16 primary elements in our bodies come in two forms: alkaline and acid.
Now since 12 of the body’s elements are alkaline -forming and four are acid -forming, and since we replenish our bodily cells through food, what do you think a balanced meal should look like, proportionally? Twelve to 4—or 3 to 1! Seventy-five percent alkaline and 25 percent acid.
pH Balancing
Now let’s delve further into this subject and understand what is meant by alkaline and acid, and how that ties in with pH and pH balancing. Mr. Armstrong discussed this years ago without going into the details we will briefly cover here.
Webster’s definition for pH is “a measure of acidity and alkalinity of a solution that is a number on a scale on which a value of 7 represents neutrality and lower numbers indicate increasing acidity and higher numbers increasing alkalinity.”
It’s a scale of measurement that goes from 1 to 14—with 1 being the most acid, 7 neutral, and 14 the most alkaline.
pH is simply a measure of how acid or alkaline something is.
The lower the pH factor, the more acidic something is. The higher the pH factor, the more alkaline it is.
God obviously created meats and grains for us to eat. Christ ate them while He was on earth. It simply shows the relative amount of acid ash or alkaline ash these foods produce when digested so that you can then strive for that 3-to-1 balance when preparing meals.
Remember God’s basic law of physical health. It’s not that we should be vegetarians or avoid red meat altogether. It’s that we enjoy those foods God has created for us to eat—but in proper balance. And “proper balance” is not the classic meat-and-potatoes diet that so many Americans enjoy. Neither is it what some others think: If I eat some salad, some meat and potatoes, some junk food, some greasy food, some fast food, some sugary food and an apple once in a while, then I must be balanced.
